Everyone has an odd little space in their homes; it’s these idiosyncratic elements of a room that give a home real character. But nowhere has such little corners more than period interiors – and it can be tricky to know what to do with them, so that they are highlighted as a lovely feature and a useful area rather than becoming a bland and overlooked space, particularly if space is at a premium in your home.
With this in mind, we’ve been seeking out some great design elements that make the most of these little nooks and crannies – and that will turn them into a favourite little place!
Our beautiful ‘weather-beaten oak’, leather and iron ‘Nigel’ desk has just arrived instore from one of our favourite furniture makers, Flamant. It’s fabulously compact whilst being endless practical with its discreet pull-out drawers for storage and smart leather top and drawer pull tab, and features industrial style-influenced iron legs.
Measuring just 55cm wide, it will tuck in nicely alongside a fireplace or in the corner of a room and make a perfectly designed study or workspace area.

Use a tight spot to inject some greenery to your room; indoor plants (formerly, of course, known as ‘house plants’!) are always of the moment and a must-have décor item that suits every space! They purify the air, reduce stress and act as a natural humidifier, not to mention they lift the look of a room instantly. There’s a reason ‘Greenery’ was chosen as Pantone’s 2017 Colour of the Year – plants are having a serious moment. We’ve used our Isaac stands suspended on the wall in varying sizes to fill a nook (or is it a cranny?) at 17 West Street as a fabulous display for such plants as well as other beautiful objets!
Flamant Isaac Stands Heights 55, 75 and 95cm £159 – £179
Brass Terrarium £74.99
