We have lovingly restored this Grade II eighteenth-century building in St Ives’ historic town centre to be our new gallery & showrooms.
We instantly fell in love with this building; it reflects our love of old properties, and we could see so much potential in the space. The entire team rose to the challenge of restoring this property, using our knowledge and skills to restore the building and celebrate its history, while applying a sympathetic modern twist to the space.
The building was in a bad state of repair when we took it on. The mansard roof was spreading, the walls were leaning up to 12 degrees in some places, and the brick work was spalling. Urgent repairs were needed to restore this historic property, and we worked alongside the HDC conservation team to determine what could be saved and what needed to be rebuilt.
We reclaimed as much original material as possible, and carefully documented what couldn’t be saved. We then set too renovating the building to our high standards, creating the main gallery and shop downstairs and a spacious, contemporary apartment upstairs.
One of the architects we use, Toni Mosses, helped to create plans and templates of the building and gain planning permission for the contemporary extensions.
