Kesseler’s fascination with plant material and natural substances is the thread running through the variety of work he produces. Inspired by the depth of colours and textures in the plant world, Kesseler draws from nature to create unique and diverse works of art across a multitude of platforms. As Professor of Ceramic Art and Design at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, he has made use of digital photography, illustrations, glass and ceramics to bridge the gap between the sciences and arts.

Kesseler’s passion for the minute details of plants is evident in his work; magnified images are intricately coloured to highlight that which is normally overlooked by the human eye.

Rob Kesseler is Chair of Arts, Design & Science at University of the Arts, London, was NESTA Fellow at Kew from 2001-2004, and is now a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, the Linnean Society and the Royal Microscopical Society.
